A Model 1865 Spencer Repeating Carbine. 37” overall, 20” .50 calibre rimfire barrel with 6 groove rifling & Stabler cut off. Ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards. Engraved ‘M1865’ on top of barrel. Knox form engraved ‘SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO BOSTON MASS PATT. MARCH 6.1860’ numbered on the breech ‘23038’. Under lever action, 7 shot tubular magazine in butt with back action lock. Two piece varnished walnut stock with two inspector’s stamps (DAP) & (AHN), with sling bar & ring, sling swivel on fore end band.

No. 23038 for 1866                                                                  

A late civil War rifle in good condition with very good bore.                                                  

About 24,000 made, between 1865 -66 so this must be one the last made. The Stabler cut off was fitted to 12,502 of them.
