 Unusually large 1821 light cavalry sword. 42” overall, 36” straight fullered blade. Etched with crowned “VRI” and foliage to one side, and crowned Star of India(?) Badge. Forte etched “R. Brodda and Co, Calcutta”. With its three bar hilt with chequered pommel and back strap, fish skin grip with triple silver wire and original(?) sword knot. In it’s pig skin field service scabbard with plated mounts.

Circa 1880.

In good condition but blade slightly rubbed.
