A 1796 Light Cavalry officers sword. 37 ½” overall and 33” curved blade with broad fuller. Engraved with royal coat of arms, mounted cavalryman and signed ‘Osborne’ in a ribbon, and on the obverse crowned ‘G.R’ and marshal trophies and ‘Warranted’ in a ribbon, signed ‘Osborne’ on the back edge. D shaped stirrup hilt with faceted edge, faceted back strap and black leather grip with twisted silver wire. In its wrought iron scabbard with two suspension rings.


. Sword in good condition with much original polish, gilt only at the forte (blade doesn’t appear to ever have been blue and gilt. Hilt and grip in good condition, Scabbard with salt and pepper finish.
