A 1796 Light Cavalry officers sword. 37 ½” overall and 32” curved blade with broad fuller. Frost etched and engraved with a figure of Victory and Britannia, family crest of Vyvyan and initials R.V, and on the obverse crowned marshal trophies, a mounted Hussar and ‘Warranted’ in a ribbon. D shaped stirrup hilt with faceted edge, faceted back strap and fish skin grip with twisted silver wire. Shapped langets. In its wrought iron scabbard with two suspension rings.

Sword in good condition with much original polish, gilt only at the forte. Hilt and grip in good condition, scabbard with salt and pepper finish.
