A rare 120 bore 5 shot Percussion 4th model Tranter Revolver 8 ½" overall, 3 ¾” octagonal blued steel sighted barrel engraved ‘W.Watson 313 High Holborn London’. Blued steel boarder engraved solid frame engraved to r/h side 'No 18415T' & spring to retain/release cylinder pin, l/h side with polished rammer engraved 'W Tranters Patent', 5 shot cylinder with Birmingham proof marks, blued trigger guard with polished spurred triggers. Chequered walnut butt. Contained in its original green baize lined mahogany case with original accessories including bullet and cap tins, bullet mould, nipple key and bag shaped flask. William Watson label to lid.

In good condition, much original finish, trigger guard rubbed.

William Tranter traded from 13 St. Mary's Row Birmingham from 1849 to 1875, and between 1853 and 1865 was granted six British patents relating to revolvers and their accessories. He was licensed by Deane, Adams & Deane to make complete Adams' self-cocking revolvers and to use Adams' patented frame for his own revolvers.
