 A Rare cased 90 Bore Percussion Pryce & Cashmore (Daw) Patent Double-Action Revolver. 11” overall, 5 ½” sighted barrel signed in full along the top flat, “GEORGE H. DAW, 57, THREADNEEDLE ST., LONDON, SERIAL NO. 1772”, case-hardened serial numbered cylinder numbered from '1' to '5', border and scroll engraved frame with characteristic spur and engraved 'Patent, No. 1772' on the right side, border engraved slender trigger-guard and ovoidal butt-cap, the latter with lanyard ring, one peace chequered walnut butt with presentation inscription ‘S.W.Cooke As a token of UNIVERSAL ESTEEM by his schoolfellows ON HIS LEAVING CHELTENHAM COLLEGE Oct 12 1866’. Linked rammer with sprung side-catch, and chequered rounded butt, London proof marks No. 1772, Contained in its original oak case with a full set of original accessories including rare to find bullet mould. George Daws label to lid with brass roundel engraved S.W.Cooke.

Samuel Winter Cooke, 1847-1929, born in Australia. Educated at Cheltenham and Trinity Colleges and admitted to the bar in 1873. Inherited his uncle's extensive property 'Murndal', near Hamilton. As well as being a rancher, he served in various political offices in Portland Shire, as a member of the Victorian Legislative Council and briefly as minister of war and minister of education.

George H. Daw, 57 Threadneedle St., London 1855- 1871 This revolver incorporates C. Pryse and P. Cashmore's British Patent No. 2018 of 6 December 1855 and the rammer appears to be based on J.
