A Cased pair of Joseph Manton Percussion Duelling/Target Pistols in the Purdy style. 16” overall, 10" octagonal sighted 40 bore barrels with single platinum line & engraved scroll at breeches and ‘Joseph Manton & Son 6 Holles St Cavendish Square London’ on the top flat, engraved tangs, flat scroll engraved lockplates signed 'Joseph Manton & Son', scroll engraved hammers. Chequered walnut grips, half stocks, engraved steel furniture, trigger guards numbered 10723, with set triggers and engraved fore-end caps. No provision for ramrod. In their original case with hooks, very good accessories including red leather three way flask, bullet mould ,cleaning rod, mallet head and handle, spring clamp, turn screw and nipple key. Joseph Manton label in lid, with lifting handle. Silver escutcheons with the arms of Admiral Lord Cockrane

Number 10723 made in 1838, among the last pistols made by Joseph Manton before he sold the business in 1842 and retired.
