A Cased mint pair Percussion Duelling Pistols by Charles Lancaster. 16” overall, 10" octagonal ,sighted 22 bore barrels with double gold lines & engraved scroll at breeches and ‘Bond St London’, on top flat,engraved tangs, flat scroll engraved lockplates signed 'Lancaster', scroll engraved flat hammers, set triggers. Finely chequered walnut grips, flat butted half stocks, engraved steel furniture, spur trigger guards with starburst and silver fore-end caps. Ebony ramrods one with a screw. In campaign style case with brass mounts and bolts with very good accessories including three way flask by Dixon, bullet mould, cleaning rod, oil bottle and cap tin.
In mint condition, original finish to barrels and locks.Small chip in wood in front of one lock. Case with old relining.
Charles Lancaster 151 New Bond Street 1826 -1847.
Known as the maker of the finest barrels he made barrels for Joe Manton and all Purdey’s before 1826.
