A massive .577 Pepperbox Revolver

A fine and magnificent monster of a pepper box revolver, 101/2" overall, block of five steel barrels of .577 bore lightly engraved on the muzzles, London proof marks and numbers 1 to 5 at the breeches, top bar hammer percussion action with sliding safety all finely engraved with close scrolling, finely chequered walnut butt with finely engraved butt trap, similarly engraved trigger guard, steel belt hook to left hand side, oval white metal escutcheon within a lozenge also to left hand side. Circa 1845. No maker's name or mark, retained all colour hardening, barrel and belt hook toned, appears to be unfired and may never have been retailed, very high-quality.
