A Very Fine Pair of Percussion Travelling Pistols 10" overall, 5" octagonal sighted browned barrels signed 'Westley Richards' on top flat, case hardened breeches & engraved tangs incorporating rear sights. Walnut figured full stocks with chequered butts, flat case hardened bolted locks, dolphin hammers, pierced platinum breech plugs, plates engraved 'Westley Richards', blued trigger guards, swivel ramrods. In their original green baize lined mahogany case with powder flask (spring a/f), bullet mould, cleaning jag, bag of percussion caps, a number of balls & a key for case, trade label of William Bishop Agent 170 New Bond Street London. Label glued inside the lid reads: Saarstat Eireann National Economy. 'Case of duelling (sic) pistols the property of the Earl of Bessborough, handed in by Mr Robert King Hall for safe keeping to Segt P J Langan 1331, Piltdown Station Co Kilkenny on Friday 19th June 1936. Weapons slightly rusted. Top of one hammer broken, Twelve rounds of ball, powder horn 160 caps, instruments 2 for loading and unloading' William Westley Richards gunmaker Birmingham from 1812, retail shop with William Bishop 170 New Bond Street 1826-1872.
