 A fine cased Cape Rifle with 29 ½” double barrels in .500 2 grooved rifle and 16 bore shotgun. Fine quality Damascus barrels with Birmingham proofs, numbered ‘8625 S&JW’ underneath. With a removable parade of folding sights, graduated to 600 yards, with platinum lines. Flat top rib with 20” rule lined in platinum. Top flat signed ‘Joseph Bourne and Son 8625’. Walnut half stock with side action scroll engraved locks. Engraved ‘Pryse Reddman’.Chequered at wrist and fore-end. Large patchbox which exactly fits the removable rear sight. Engraved with scrolls and a lion. With ingenious double ended brass tipped steel ramrod. Contained in its original brass mounted mahogany case with lifting handle. With matching pair of powder flask and shot flask, turnscrews.

Rifle in good condition, engraving a little bit rubbed. Shot flask and powder flask a little tired. Good bores.

It is uncommon to find a gun with two different makers but in this case they were neighbours, Joseph Boune at 9 St Marys Row and Pryse Redman at 12 St Marys Row. Charles Pryse went on to develop the well regarded Pryse Revolver. Josepph Boune had a large export business to South Africa.
