LONDON. The underside struck with London proof marks. Lock with border line engraving and R..T. PRITCHETT. Walnut full  stock with regulation iron furniture,  chequered  wrist with two barrel retaining bands and original  jag head rammer .

 Based on the regulation Pattern 1856 short service rifle for sale to a target shooter or

volunteer soldier of the mid Victorian age. Pritchett was a well know shot of

the time and his variant on the Enfield pattern rifling using narrower grooves

than the army issue weapons was popular with riflemen at the time. In good

condition with good bore and mechanics. A good sharp stock and much original

finish to the metal work. A good example of a patent rifle by one of the best

known makers to the volunteer movement and the early members of the NRA.
