An 18th Century Pair of English Cannon Barrelled Flintlock Pistols by Haynes & Co

Stock Code: X1853

An 18th Century Pair of English Cannon Barrelled Flintlock Pistols by Haynes & Co London, 8” overall, 2 ½” ring turned canon barrels. Boxlock flintlock action and a hinged steel. Each Lock is inscribed "Haynes & Co" to the r/h side, with engravings, plus floral designs to the l/h side. The action to half and full cock is sound, with a sliding trigger guard safety at half cock. The slab sided walnut stocks are profusely inlaid with silver wire, one minor piece missing on one pistol. Both are clearly stamped with London Proofs (to the lower aspect of the lock/barrel interface). These proofs indicate manufacture post 1740, and it is almost certain that these pistols were made by Francis Haynes.

C1760 before his departure to go and work as an Armourer in Menorca 1763. A very attractive pair of English Flintlock Pistols.
