C628 A very fine pair of flintlock holster pistols by Jackson of Maidstone. 14 inches overall, 8 inch two stage brass barrels octagonal at breech for 3 1/4 inches with Tower private proof marks and barrel smiths mark to left-hand flat, and 'Jackson Maidstone' on top flat. Round barrels slightly flared towards the muzzle, flat brass border engraved lock plates, engraved 'T.Jackson',swan necked engraved cock brass pan. Walnut fullstock carved with scallop shell behind tangs, brass furniture comprising open work side plates with the flowers and scallop shells. oval escutcheons surmounted with shells and engraved with initials 'GH', long spurred butt caps with grotesque masks, trigger guard with engraved bows and acorn finials, baluster ramrod pipes and brass tipped ramrods . Circa 1770  A very good honest pair pistols in a excellent original condition.
