A Fine 32 Bore Flintlock Over & Under Pistol by D.Egg, 14” overall, 8” octagonal barrels with blade sight, clean bores, top flat signed   D.Egg. London in gold, steel ramrod mounted below barrel, stamped with London proofs  two gold lines at the breech, both locks engraved and signed ‘D.Egg’ in script , swan-neck cocks fitted with sliding safeties, simple floral and linear engraving to mounts, single trigger, trigger guard and butt cap engraved with musical trophies , one piece stock cut for shoulder stock with fine chequering.

Durs Egg son of Leonz Egg, gunmaker, Switzerland. Born 1748, baptised Urs Christian. After a short stay in Paris, came to London and worked for John Twigg, 1772. Granted denization in 1791. Gunmaker & Sword Cutler. Became gunmaker to George IV & Duke of York. Renowned for his fine workmanship
