 A good cased pair of duelling pistols by William Alley of Kilkenny,16” overall, 10" sighted round 28 bore barrels with top flat, blade fore sights, gold cartouche [Wm Alley Kilkenny ] gold breech-line , engraved tang incorporating rear sights, gold touch holes and pans, plain stepped bolted locks with chamfered edges signed Alley in a gold ribbon. Swan neck cocks, frizzen with roller on toe. Walnut full stocked, slab sided butts chequered on back with narrow horn fore ends, engraved iron furniture, trigger guard with acorn finial, horn tipped ramrods. In a mahogany case with some accessories including bullet mould, loading rod and three-way flask.

In good condition, very good bores, barrels rebrowned.

William Alley first commenced business in Kilkenny circa 1788 at Rose Ann Street. He transferred this business to 6 Abbey Street, Dublin in late 1795 and is listed in Dublin until 1802. He made high quality gold mounted duelling pistols.
