An India pattern Volunteer Carbine by D Egg, 52 ½” long. 37” barrel with Tower private proofs & engraved ‘4’. Regulation style lock with swan necked cock engraved ‘D Egg’. Regulation style brass furniture engraved ‘4’ on the tail of the butt plate.  Handrail stock of well figured walnut  with carved apron around barrel tang & swell on the fore-end with steel ramrod also engraved ‘4’. C1798 Very good condition, attractively patinated wood, steelwork un-pitted & bright, missing its foresight & rear sling swivel
