About
Us
John Spooner
John Spooner, whose interest in antique weapons lies in the dim &
distant past, first started collecting over 40 years ago. After a
30 year career in the City of London he turned his hobby into a business
in 1980. He opened West Street Antiques in 1986, dealing in Arms &
Armour , and fine furniture. Over the years the Arms & Armour
side has developed to the point where West Street Antiques has earned
an enviable reputation for the quality of their stock.
Philp Spooner
I was fortunate to grow up in a house full of antique furniture
and old guns, which gave me a impetus to collect and become a dealer.
After leaving school I worked at Christies for three and half years,
in the furniture and sporting gun departments. I opened a shop in
Dorking in1985 after a period of trading at fairs, and joined John
my father, and Richard at West Street Antiques in 1990.
Between us we have 60 years collecting and 40 years dealing expertise
behind us. We our always happy to answer your collecting queries and
advise on care and conservation of your collections. We also can do
insurance valuations.
